ALPS OF NEW SOUTH WALES
Alps of New South Wales was born into country New South Wales, Australia, amongst dusty plains, obnoxiously large utes and deadshit rugby league players.
In his early twenties, he heard a calling from the gods of lofi to grow a beard and give up his lease, to embark on a spiritual journey, travelling the world round to preach the message of DIY.
A few years later, Alps continues to develop unpigeonholeable textured pop music, although now clean shaven and with a wider array of instruments and recording techniques. Alps ethereal popscapes blend elements of shoegaze, folk, psych and drone, centered around analog keys, clean guitars, reverby vocals, drum machines, field recordings and pedals.
The third album, and second in the Alps of NSW trilogy, “Alps of New South Whales” is out soon on Beat is Murder Records. To support the release, Alps is embarking on his third worldwide tour, taking on Australia, New Zealand and USA with Castanets and Tiger Saw throughout December and January, and Europe in February with Sunday Parlours.
